STAND UP AND BE COUNTED

Receiving letters such as the one from Bettina is a true motivator for C.A.G.E. to work even harder towards restoring our civil freedoms. If Bettina’s encouraging words and concrete actions can motivate more people to stand up and be counted, the nanny state can and will be beaten. All it takes is for anyone and everyone who cherishes his freedoms and despises manipulation and corruption to do one single meaningful thing per week such as writing to the media, participating in a public forum or an open line, contacting his MP and educating others to the issues. Sooner than we realize, our politicians’ zone of comfort would be threatened and they would start to listen to reason instead of hype. Although it takes a little more sustained effort, constant presence in the media of our side of the story by hundreds or thousands of people is worth much more than one demonstration in the streets that will be quickly forgotten once the event passes.

Dear CAGE,

I just wanted to thank you for all your current efforts.

In response to an article in the daily Metro newspaper from Jan 7th on "Third Hand Tobacco Smoke", I sent a letter that was subsequently published on the weekend Jan 9-11th edition. I have included it below.

Thank you CAGE for inspiring me to do something about this oppression. Please contact me if there is any protests or demonstrations planned in the Montreal area. I'll be there!

IT'S NOT AS IF WE HADN'T TOLD THEM SO!

''CAN I DECIDE FOR MYSELF WHAT IS GOOD FOR ME OR DOES THE GOVERNMENT HAVE TO DECIDE THAT?'' Michael Schmidt

On May 19, 2008 we posted a comment about the underground milk market and Mr. Michael Schmidt who defies an umpteenth healthist law in Canada by supplying raw milk to a select customer base.

Canwest has published a follow-up article on this story that motivates us to once again congratulate Mr. Schmidt who is willing to go a long way to defend his principles which very much resemble those of C.A.G.E. ‘’Can I decide for myself what is good for me or does the government have to decide that?" is the basis for Mr. Schmidt’s defiance and the lengths he will go to in order to defend his right to self-autonomy.

Once again public health uses the ‘’for the children’’ classical excuse to justify their intransigence. According to what we learn from the article, Canada is the only G8 country with an outright ban on the sale of raw milk. Oh what lengths our healthist government will go to to protect our children while our public hospitals are infested with c-difficile and thousands of people young and old die yearly from medical errors while none of Mr. Schmidt’s customers ever got sick! Which begs the question: What stops bureaucrats from regularly verifying if the raw milk sold in some dedicated farms is safe for human consumption instead of once again taking the easy way out and outright banning it thus removing all choice? It has become more than insulting to undermine adult intelligence and parental judgment to this point. It is in fact beginning to be very frightening. Will they eventually remove children from their biological parents to raise them in sterilized state camps until they are deemed of legal age to protect themselves from their parents? If the tendency doesn’t get reversed somehow, we are afraid that this scenario is really not that farfetched. Let's not forget that parental abuse and neglect laws do exist for those unfortunate children that do indeed have irresponsible parents. If they can prove raw milk is actually harming a particular child but the parents insist they drink it, they can easily enforce these already existent laws.

If you would like to address letters of encouragement or a donation to Mr. Schmidt’s defense fund you can do so via his website at: http://www.glencoltonfarms.com/

SHE WILL NEVER SURRENDER, WILL YOU?

The following opinion piece that appeared in the January 9th edition of the Windsor Star, sums up exactly what is wrong with the healthist movement and the apathy of the people in the name of health and political correctness.

From the lucrative industry that epidemiology (aka politicized science) has become, to the pharmaceutical industry’s corporate interests in inventing diseases that need ‘’fixing’’ through dangerous drugs, the writer of this piece has pinned the situation down to a science.

We only have one comment for this editorial: If more people would see as clearly as this writer how we are being manipulated ‘’for our own good’’, our healthcare systems and economies would not be in the mess they are today and reason would reign over collective hype and paranoia!

Enjoy reading the article but more importantly, please take the time to do something about denouncing this outrageous manipulation. Never hesitate to express your opinion to the media and to our politicians. You might think you’re being ignored and perhaps you would be if you were the only one doing it. However, they couldn’t possibly ignore our cries if only a greater number of us expressed our disgust and deep concern as to where they’re leading us.

Gradual stripping away of freedoms

The Windsor Star

Comox Valley Echo January 9, 2009

It was with dismay but not surprise that I read the editorial reprinted from the Times Colonist regarding Dr. Perry Kendall's recommendations for yet more laws to be passed dealing with alcohol. What disturbs me more is people's apparent willingness to keep tolerating this gradual stripping away of our personal freedoms.

Are we so busy being concerned about political correctness that we can't see what's going on around us? We are being told what to do and how to live constantly; in school, on TV, on the job, everywhere we go. These rules and regulations often come about as a result of "studies", a lucrative business indeed, especially in the case of health. Fats, carbs, vitamins, coffee, tea, you name it, it's been studied to death. But it doesn't stop there. Seems all the studies don't agree, so we need more. I guess to disprove last year's study, and then inform us. Or tell us they were right after all. Or because a study's no good unless it gives the hoped-for result, so scrap it and do another one. Ow, feels like a good swift kick in the wallet to me.

Bad enough that John Q Public has to foot the bill for this, like it or not, but we shouldn't have to endure the added indignity of having the "results" used to justify unfair bans and taxes. I guess the extra taxes could be used for yet more studies. Personally, I don't relish having to pay for the stick they plan to beat me with.

In the UK in 2007, the government, in a fit of absolute lunacy, decided to ban cheese ads for children, because someone somewhere had decided cheese is bad for us. Diet pop was not banned. Where has common sense gone? Britain's fanatical antismoking legislation has had a devastating effect on the economy, particularly for pub owners. Apparently, unemployment and poverty are better for your health than having a cigarette in a pub. But, that's OK, folks, because smokers are dirty, dangerous antisocial cretins who don't know what's good for them. Make no mistake, portly ones, they're coming for you next. Or have you not noticed that people seem to feel free to insult "overweight" people now, because the government has decided how much you should weigh. One of the first steps in social engineering is to ostracize the target group.
Don't things like toll-free rat lines scare anybody? Doesn't it bother you that schools undermine parental authority by promoting the government's agenda? This same government which allows big pharmaceutical companies to bombard us constantly with ads flogging pills for minor ( possibly even nonexistent) ailments, even though the side effects can kill you? Nice to hear, though, that Health Canada is "in the process of creating stronger wordings" on product labels such as Champix, an antismoking drug, because taking it might cause you to go crazy and/or kill yourself or someone else . These are the same people who expect you to believe little Willy will wilt if you smoke.

If people don't take a stand now, we could all end up living nice healthy lives, subsisting on bags of People Chow (complete nutrition guaranteed) and ingesting prescription drugs by the bucketful. That's not living, that's livestock. And what does livestock do but provide profit for the owner.

Well, I'm not livestock. And, like Winston Churchill (who, in addition to fighting for our freedoms, drank, smoked, and ate chocolates until it finally killed him at age 90), I will never surrender. They'll have to pry that KitKat from my cold dead hand.

JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD HEARD IT ALL

Another piece of ridiculous junk science hit the media this week. While the debate on the harms of second hand smoke is raging more than ever since an ever increasing number of reputed scientists are denouncing the biased methods of the second hand smoke cherry picked findings, we are now being hit by an even more irrational fear propaganda for the obvious purpose of further stigmatizing smokers and isolating them from their friends, family, employers and landlords : Lo and behold we are told, third hand smoke is a menace !

We will not dignify this nonsense with an analysis of the findings of the study. Instead, we offer you a copy of a letter sent out by one of our members to the CBC, one of the many media that reported the study. Although the writer addressed his letter only to the CBC, all of the media that dignified this anti-smoker hogwash by reporting it, deserve the same justified criticism.

Just saw your news story about "thirdhand smoke". The story angle should have been about how gullible reporters too lazy to get an unbiased second opinion pander to the panic- mongering of charlatans. I can’t believe you went with this story, and that you did so in such a poor manner. It’s absurd and makes me question your network’s common sense. You would do better to start worrying about the real pollution outside of cars and homes rather than the residual smell of tobacco inside a car or room. If we were to believe your stories, we should start wondering how all the people who smoked or were surrounded by smoke before the 1990s are even still alive. Shame on you.

LEVELING THE PLAYING FIELD

Leveling the playing field.

This phrase has become very common from our elected officials as of the last few years, second only to the famous ‘’for the children’’ classic justification for governments to encroach deeper and deeper in our everyday lives and businesses.

So what exactly does leveling the playing field mean when it comes to business? The most simple to understand short definition probably comes from investorsword.com : Environment in which all companies in a given market must follow the same rules and are given an equal ability to compete. At first look this sounds enticing since it would be giving everyone equal opportunities to thrive in today’s competing market. We would even tend to agree with it if its extent was limited to treating every entrepreneur fairly as far as bureaucratic rules and regulations that govern their businesses go without any free passes. But beyond government treating all businesses equal when it comes to already established taxation, permits and minimal employment regulations, it should be left totally up to each individual business when it comes to the way it markets its wares and services in an effort to be creative in order to prosper, providing it is done within the boundaries of legality.

For example, while it is ok for government to regulate noise that may have become a nuisance to the surrounding neighbors, it is not up to government to set a hefty entry fee for the purpose of limiting the bar to an older less noisy crowd, nor to decide what the age of the patrons should be providing they are of legal drinking age.

The most common example of the level playing field excuse used by government is when it was thrown around ad nauseam during the Canadian campaign for smoking bans. The ban proponents stubbornly refused to allow any exemptions (even for private clubs with no employees), using the ‘’level playing field’’ to justify their intransigence. But are all bars operating under equal opportunities? Sure they may all be subjected to smoking bans now, but what of those that don’t have the space to operate a patio, a dance floor, a more attractive location or the money to provide for such attractions?

Well… in Nova Scotia, our ever encroaching elected officials, have burdened bars with yet another stringent regulation for ‘’the sake of the children’’ and ‘’the level playing field’’, subtracting these businessmen and women of yet another liberty and consumers of yet another break. Indeed, discounting the price of drinks in order to attract customers is now illegal! Everyone in Nova Scotia (coming soon to a province near you) must abide by a minimum price established by the nanny government. Notice that in the article we link to below, we no longer mention ‘’the children’’. We now talk of ‘’students’’. It would of course be kind of silly to use the children as an excuse to implement a minimum price for alcoholic drinks, so if we can’t exploit the ‘’children’’ angle, let’s substitute it for the ‘’students’’ angle. Those ‘’students’’ apparently binge drink and cause trouble and while one of their peers admits that setting a minimum price for drinks will not necessarily make them drink less, it will at least force them to do it elsewhere than a bar, like a friend’s house for instance. How convenient this ‘’out of site out of mind’’ policy! Won’t these ‘’students’’ eventually have to gain their home (exactly as they would after the bar closing hours) most probably even more drunk than if they were at a bar and cause just as much if not more trouble? Won’t these ‘’students’’ be disturbing the peace of residential neighborhoods? Unless of course we institute a law to barricade them in their ‘’friend’s house’’ if they have passed the 0,05 alcohol level! Let’s not give them any ideas, albeit we are sure it has already crossed the minds of the more radical among them.

The article informs us that 70 per cent of those businesses who have responded so far to a government survey are in favor of a minimum price while 20 per cent wanted an even higher price. No indication of course as to the number and type of businesses that responded. Is it 10 or 12 mom and pop establishments that are fed up of being undercut by well established chains, or is it on the contrary 2 or 3 well established venues that have bigger overheads and can’t afford to discount the drinks? Whichever it is, and whatever their number, it is too bad that they are opening yet another door for government to encroach further in our lives and livelihoods. Has the hospitality industry not learnt anything from past experiences with government interference? What will it take for people to understand that the more you ask of government, the more you restrain free will and the free market and this is never good news neither for economy nor freedom.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS - JOYEUSES FÊTES

ENGLISH WILL FOLLOW

Happy holidays to our faithful members and visitors. Enjoy yourselves and come back to read us after the holidays.

As a Christmas gift we offer you the following poem by Harvey Ehrlich.

POLITICALLY CORRECT SANTA

by (c)Harvey Ehrlich

Twas the night before Christmas and Santa’s a wreck...
How to live in a world that’s politically correct?
His workers no longer would answer to "Elves",
"Vertically Challenged" they were calling themselves.

And labor conditions at the north pole
Were alleged by the union to stifle the soul.
Four reindeer had vanished, without much propriety,
Released to the wilds by the Humane Society.

And equal employment had made it quite clear
That Santa had better not use just reindeer.
So Dancer and Donner, Comet and Cupid,
Were replaced with 4 pigs, and you know that looked stupid!

The runners had been removed from his sleigh;
The ruts were termed dangerous by the E.P.A.
And people had started to call for the cops
When they heard sled noises on their roof-tops.

Second-hand smoke from his pipe had his workers quite frightened.
His fur trimmed red suit was called "Unenlightened."
And to show you the strangeness of life’s ebbs and flows,
Rudolf was suing over unauthorized use of his nose

And had gone on Geraldo, in front of the nation,
Demanding millions in over-due compensation.
So, half of the reindeer were gone; and his wife,
Who suddenly said she’d enough of this life,

Joined a self-help group, packed, and left in a whiz,
Demanding from now on her title was Ms.
And as for the gifts, why, he’d ne’er had a notion
That making a choice could cause so much commotion.

Nothing of leather, nothing of fur,
Which meant nothing for him. And nothing for her.
Nothing that might be construed to pollute.
Nothing to aim. Nothing to shoot.

Nothing that clamored or made lots of noise.
Nothing for just girls. Or just for the boys.
Nothing that claimed to be gender specific.
Nothing that’s warlike or non-pacific.

No candy or sweets...they were bad for the tooth.
Nothing that seemed to embellish a truth.
And fairy tales, while not yet forbidden,
Were like Ken and Barbie, better off hidden.

For they raised the hackles of those psychological
Who claimed the only good gift was one ecological.
No baseball, no football...someone could get hurt;
Besides, playing sports exposed kids to dirt.

Dolls were said to be sexist, and should be passe;
And Nintendo would rot your entire brain away.
So Santa just stood there, disheveled, perplexed;
He just could not figure out what to do next.

He tried to be merry, tried to be gay,
But you’ve got to be careful with that word today.
His sack was quite empty, limp to the ground;
Nothing fully acceptable was to be found.

Something special was needed, a gift that he might
Give to all without angering the left or the right.
A gift that would satisfy, with no indecision,
Each group of people, every religion;

Every ethnicity, every hue,
Everyone, everywhere...even you.
So here is that gift, it’s price beyond worth...
"May you and your loved ones enjoy peace on earth."

FIRST THEY CAME FOR THE SMOKERS

We repeatedly warned about the slippery slope once you have allowed government to dictate your lifestyle choices even on unpopular issues such as smoking. Many people listened but only very few made the effort to be heard. Some didn’t believe us because it couldn’t possibly happen to anyone but the ‘’filthy’’ smokers who had it coming to them. Many others were and still are too happy to let government dictate their choices and meddle as far as in the intimacy of their family lives because it gives them a sense of security they cannot or will not seek on their own. Obviously they never fully grasped the meaning of Benjamin Franklin’s famous words: Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.

Well folks, the ‘’fat tax’’ will very shortly cease to be ‘’do-gooder’’ rhetoric and will sooner than you realize become the hard reality facing you on your grocery store shelf day in and day out.

With the usual do-gooders -- our southern neighbors -- setting the trend, it will not be too long before our Canadian politicians will be copying their American counterparts in taxing fatty foods in an effort to coerce you and your family to adopt the government stamped lifestyle choices. And who knows what will follow after the ‘’fat tax’’. Perhaps one measure will be that if you’re over the ideal weight limit you will not be allowed to enter MacDonald’s or Burger King for your own good of course but especially to protect children from the bad example you would be setting for them. Say what? Was that a laughter in the background? Oh yes indeed it was! It sounded like it came from the same folks who thought it could never be forbidden to smoke in a bar!

What is even more alarming about the CNN article we link to below, are the comments from some of the readers which clearly make our point that there are unfortunately far too many people who will give up freedom to gain a false sense of security, sacrificing everybody’s freedom in the process. If you know of one such person, please remind him of what the notion of personal responsibility is, for everyone’s sake including his own.

SMOKING BANS ARE BAD BAD POLICY! IT'S NOT AS IF WE HADN'T TOLD THEM SO!

As Statistics Canada recently reported, smoking prevalence that was steadily decreasing pre-ban years, has remained stable post-ban years for three years in a row. This phenomenon is not only happening in Canada. It happened in Ireland, it is happening in England and it is happening in France. And these of course are only the few countries that reported their findings. Chances are that the same results are seen mostly everywhere comprehensive smoking bans have been implemented.

Smoking bans are bad bad irresponsible policy that cause social and economic havoc and it is high time politicians throughout the world start realizing that they have been played like a fiddle by the pharmaceutical industry and their anti-tobacco front groups when they sold them the billion dollars lie that smoking bans will reduce smoking and will help the economy. The facts speak for themselves, when will honest politicians speak for the facts?

As for the Helena, Pueblo, Piedmont, Saskatoon, Scottish, etc… heart attack miracles that anti-smoking advocates invented, they have all been debunked one after the other, with the latest being the Scottish miracle.

HOW LOW CAN YOU GO!

We have exposed in the past about how lowering the permissible BMI (Body Mass Index) levels creates millions of obese people overnight resulting in world-wide claims that there is a severe obesity pandemic. The perfect example of this ‘’obesity by definition’’ phenomenon is a new release from Indian health authorities who have recently adopted their very own norms that establish what makes a person fat. Indeed, while the WHO and many western countries lowered their BMI norms a few years ago from 27 to 25 thus creating millions of obese people across the world, in India they have adopted a BMI norm to be a further 2 points lower than the international level! The result of a 23 BMI norm, as per the article we link to below, is that the new parameters will bring millions of Indian citizens within the bracket of obesity. Reading about an obesity epidemic in the Indian and international papers should be forthcoming shortly since the table has now been perfectly set for the media to go ahead with the anti-obesity propaganda force-feeding. A few extra millions of obese citizens, are not a negligible customer base that can and will surely yield handsome dividends for the Big Pharma shareholders in their anti-obesity drug marketing.

What is further amazing is the way they’re selling these new low standards to the public. The explanation from public health, endorsed by several doctors, is that Indian people tend to be fatter around the waist, therefore a lower BMI target would most certainly be beneficial to their health. However, medical authorities if we can still trust them, seem to now agree that abdominal fat as in an apple shaped individual is a more significant risk for metabolic syndrome that can lead to diabetes and cardiovascular disease, than a pear shaped person. One can’t help wonder then, how targeting a lower general BMI will help a person that genetically carries much of his extra weight around the abdomen as it seems to be the case for men and a good number of women. If a person with for example a 23 ‘’ideal’’ BMI has slim members and a slim top but fat abdomen, how can public health claim that that person is at less risk than a person that has a 27 BMI but is well distributed across his body with no significant abdominal fat? One would think that the reporters would ask such pertinent questions of the medical authorities. Of course that would be too much to expect from today’s reporters!

LEARNING FROM HISTORY - ALCOHOL PROHIBITION REPEAL DAY

On this 75th anniversary of the U.S.A. alcohol prohibition repeal we would like to turn your attention to the Alcohol, Problems and Solutions website and particularly the newly published sections on the damages that prohibition caused in the 13 years it was in force.

When reading the literature, please ponder on the alarming fact that prohibitionists are alive and well and working tirelessly to bring back a new form of alcohol prohibition which much like the tobacco ‘’puff by puff’’ prohibition, is insidiously brought about in societies ‘’drip by drip’’ through social engineering that is financially backed up by powerful organizations such as the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and propagandized by ‘’virtuous’’ front groups such as the WHO and MADD. The day it will have become obvious and we will have waken up to a form of prohibition which just like tobacco it will not have banned the product but all practical use of it instead, we will rightfully wonder how we never learn from history. The more indoctrinated among us will even hail the neo-prohibitionist healthist movement, sheepishly buying the propaganda that it is for the betterment of us imperfect humans that need superior minds to dictate the ‘’right way’’ to live and die. But just like 75 years ago, prohibition will have brought nothing but havoc, crime and social discrimination exactly as the tobacco neo-prohibition is doing to societies today.

To better illustrate this last point, we have taken an excerpt from the Alcohol, Problems and Solutions series of articles and highlighted with asterisks and red links some perfect modern day examples of what is happening with the tobacco issue as compared to alcohol prohibition back then and as it will undoubtedly happen in the future if we let the neo-prohibitionists go ahead with their insidious plans to demonize even moderate consumption of alcohol to the extent they have demonized even moderate consumption of tobacco.

Prohibition and Repeal in New York State
by David J. Hanson, Ph.D.

Many residents of New York state had hoped that Prohibition (1920-1933) would reduce crime, improve health and safety, promote economic prosperity, and increase public morality. However, experience would prove the Noble Experiment to fail on all counts.

Mob-controlled liquor quickly replaced legitimate tax-paying alcohol producers and retailers. ** Tobacco Road ** Gangster-owned speakeasies replaced neighborhood drinking establishments and within five years after Prohibition was imposed, there were over 100,000 speakeasies in New York City alone by some estimates. So many speakeasies operated that New York was known as the "City on a Still''.

Mobsters opened large nightclubs with elaborate floor shows and popular bands. ." ** Inside NYC's Smoking Speakeasies ** Speakeasies and nightclubs flourished because law enforcement officers were widely bribed. In essence, the speakeasies and nightclubs bought "protection" from the very people paid to enforce the law.

Hypocrisy was endemic. ** MPs 'smoking in Commons toilets' ** A raid on one of the city's most famous speakeasies caught a number of its politicians and other leading residents. The most famous and successful Prohibition agents in the state, "Izzy" Einstein and Moe Smith enjoyed nothing more after a hard day of vigorously enforcing Prohibition than sitting back and enjoying their favorite beverages: beers and cocktails.

Organized smuggling of alcohol from Canada and elsewhere quickly developed after Prohibition became the law. A "rum row" developed off the coast of New York City where ships lined up just beyond the three mile limit to off-load their cargoes onto speed boats under the cover of darkness. ** CORNWALL RCMP DETACHMENT SEIZE 430,000 CONTRABAND CIGARETTES **

In northern New York, bootlegging was especially rampant across the St. Lawrence River separating the state from Canada. Murder and hijacking were common in the dangerous but lucrative bootlegging business. ** Smuggling's price **

An increase in often deadly violence eroded support for Prohibition. Imprisonment reached a high after it became a felony to violate Prohibition. ** JAIL TERM, FINES AMONG PENALTIES FOR TOBACCO OFFENDERS ** The number of violators sent to jail doubled and the federal prison population in the state jumped from 5,000 to 12,000.

Federal Prohibition officials inadvertently promoted Repeal by announcing that effective enforcement in the state would require hiring several thousand more Prohibition agents
** Government of Canada invests $20 million in anti-tobacco activities **. The state legislature's reaction was to pass a law calling for a constitutional convention to overturn the disastrous "experiment in social engineering." Residents of New York State had come to the conclusion that Prohibition was not only impossible to enforce, but that it also created rather than solved problems.

After Congress approved the 21st Amendment for states to ratify if they wished, New Yorkers voted almost eight to one in favor of Repeal.

Over the decades, New York has made progress in modernizing its alcohol laws. In 2003, the state struck down its Blue law banning Sunday alcohol by allowing stores to open any six days, including Sunday, benefiting time-pressed consumers as well as retailers who now have the ability to operate like every other business in this 21st century economy. The success of the stores that opened on Sundays led the legislature to pass permanent seven day sales earlier this year. New York also recently repealed an archaic ban on spirits auctions. Slowly, the remaining vestiges of Prohibition appear to be disappearing in New York.

DENYING THE UNDENIABLE: FORCES RESPONSE TO ''NICOTINE NAZIS STRIKE AGAIN''

FORCES and many pro-liberty groups and activists have been often accused of being extreme in their assessment and characterization of anti-smoking proponents and other issue healthists such as anti-obesity, anti-alcohol or even anti-drug. Extreme healthists and public health in general have indeed often been described as the nico Nazis, the nico Talibans or Ayatollahs by their opponents. This characterization is so wide-spread now, (it can be read even in some of the more politically correct mainstream media) that one of the leading actors of modern anti-tobacco, Stanton Glantz (read more about him at DEBUNKING GLANTZ and at Stanton Glantz: Then and now ) co-authored a paper: "Nicotine Nazis strike again": a brief analysis of the use of Nazi rhetoric in attacking tobacco control advocacy, on this very subject.

As we have learnt to expect, the authors of the study, unwilling to let on that there are dissenting views from grass root groups with no ties to the tobacco industry, imply that any comparison to a totalitarian or fascist regime is directly or indirectly tobacco funded, thus outright dismissing with a stroke of their pen, the ever growing number of independent groups or citizens who disagree with the anti-tobacco heavy artillery war and other modern day exaggerated health crusades. Without even looking further into their paper one must concede that this tactic alone is totalitarian and typical of any great dictator.

FORCES has published a well articulated12 page response to the Schneider/Glantz paper outlining all the healthist similarities and lessons learnt from the Nazi regime that justify the characterization of public health and pharmaceutical funded modern day eugenicists as ‘’Nico Nazis’’.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AGAINST PROHIBITION - CONFÉRENCE INTERNATIONALE CONTRE LA PROHIBITION

(FRANÇAIS SUIVRA)

The 1st TICAP International Conference against prohibition will be held at the European Parliament Building, Brussels, Belgium on January 27 and 28, 2009.

Following is the press release on the conference and the link where you can read more and register your participation:

FIRST WORLD CONFERENCE AGAINST PROHIBITION BY TICAP

PRESS RELEASE

London, UK, October 2008 - The International Coalition Against Prohibition (TICAP) will hold its first world Conference on January the 27th and the 28th, 2009. Because of its prominence in these times, tobacco prohibition was chosen as the theme of the inaugural conference. Unfortunately, the denormalization of smoking comes at the expense of many citizens' rights and it sets a very dangerous precedent, along with causing immediate and devastating economic repercussions.

The conference "Smoking Bans and Lies", will be held at The European Parliament Building in Brussels. Subjects presented for discussion at the gathering will include: the impact of smoking bans, passive smoking exposure studies, the pharmaceutical lobby and the politics of prohibition.
TICAP includes more than 20 organizations from all over the world who share the conviction that prohibitions are a threat to democracy and a free society. Once an individual's right to choose is eliminated, special interests are enriched and state intrusion is tremendously augmented.

With this conference, TICAP intends to lay the foundations of an active, world-wide opposition to the expansion of a political trend that uses questionable science and public health institutions as vehicles to control citizens.

JEAN-CLAUDE GRANGE

N’importe quoi cher docteur, n’importe quoi !

Sans rancune.
