Press release from TICAP (The International Coalition Against Prohibition)

This is to announce that the 1st World Conference Against Prohibition has been prohibited by the Bureau of the European Parliament, pressured by antismoking and pharmaceutical interests.

Thus, the TICAP Conference is now canceled.There has also been an attempt by an antismoking organization to prevent a Dutch scientist from speaking at the conference.

These bullying tactics and insults to Political Speech will not go unnoticed by those who value freedom of Political Speech regardless of their persuasions; furthermore, the member organizations of TICAP will express their views and provide more information in the upcoming days.

Fortunately, the British Delegation of the Independence/Democracy Group in the European Parliament has launched the “Thinking Is Forbidden” Conference, Hotel Silken Berlaymont Brussels (11-19, Boulevard Charlemagne, 1000 Brussels), keeping the schedule and dates unaltered.

We have been informed by IND/DEM that all those who have registered for the TICAP conference are welcome to attend. TICAP encourages you to attend to and/or cover the new conference, now more provocative and compelling because of this incredible censorship of Political Speech.

Why is Tobacco Control so afraid of a totally independent scientific conference on the issue of smoking bans?

Par la présente nous vous informons que la première Conférence MondialeContre la Prohibition vient d'être annulée par les officiers du Parlement Européen suite à des pressions des groupes de contrôle du tabac et de l'industrie pharmaceutique.

De plus, une tentative d'empêcher la participation d'un scientifique danois par un groupe de contrôle du tabac a aussi eu lieu.

Ce type d'intimidation et insulte à la liberté de parole politique ne passeront pas inaperçus par tous ceux qui ont la liberté d'expression à cœur indépendamment de leurs opinions politiques. Soyez assurés que les organisations membres de TICAP vous feront part de leur point de vue et vous tiendront informé du développement au cours des prochains jours.

Heureusement, la délégation Britannique du Parti Indépendance-Démocratie auParlement Européen annonce la Conférence : 'Interdit de penser', qui aura lieu à l'hôtel Silken Berlaymont, situé au 11-19 Boul. Charlemagne, Bruxelles. L'horaire et les conférenciers seront les mêmes que ceux prévus. L’IND/DEM nous informe que tous ceux qui avaient confirmé leur présence sont cordialement invités d’y assister. TICAP vous encourage donc à participer et aux médias de s'y intéresser d'autant plus que maintenant nous faisons face à une incroyable censure et à la fin de la liberté d'expression à toutes fins pratiques.
